While government incentive programs and other plans are very helpful to the green movement, there is another component that is just as vital. Education can make an enormous difference in the lives of individuals. Knowledge is truly a powerful tool and those who possess it are in the best position to find solutions and help out. We believe that through education, we can help young minds expand their abilities and make sound decisions about the environment's future. After all, our children will one day walk in our shoes, deciding how to live and how to treat our Mother Earth.
The Sea Bird will be used in many different ways to improve the outlook on the environment. Once refitted, the ship will venture to the dire Plastic Patches in our oceans to begin cleanup efforts. Through its advanced technology, the Sea Bird will also prove to the world that efficient, low-emission engines and fuel recycling can work in a commercial setting. While these are significant endeavors in themselves, the Sea Bird has yet a third challenge it will face head on: the education of the world's future leaders.
Students are given an opportunity to gain hands-on experience by exploring the amazing world we all share. Our classrooms will provide in-depth studies of marine biology, culture, language, mechanics, alternative propulsion, well drilling, and conservation. We will also provide video production and Web development classes that will teach students how to document their exciting experiences and share them with others!
The Sea Bird needs the assistance of willing educators to come and help us share our knowledge with new
generations. If you are an expert in any of these areas and are willing to be contacted about setting up a program aboard the Sea Bird, please let us know! You can help enrich the experience of enthusiastic students as they gather valuable skills that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives!
We are also accepting donations that will go towards scholarships for college-aged students that could not afford to join us on their own. Your donation can help expand the Sea Bird experience to those who might not otherwise have the opportunity. Unfortunately, we have to ensure that living and operating costs are covered so that each passenger enjoys a safe, fulfilling voyage aboard the Sea Bird. You can help the Sea Bird's efforts by giving someone a rare opportunity that they might not have been able to access without your financial support.
