The 1955 hit Mister Roberts (Mr. Roberts) was not only a massively momentous event in the cinema world, but also in the history of the Sea Bird (previously USNS New Bedford). That’s right! Some of Hollywood’s absolute most memorable and loved actors such as Henry Fonda, James Cagney, William Powell, and Jack Lemmon acted their way through the Sea Bird and into our hearts forever.
Even though much of our efforts are currently going towards retrofitting this majestic vessel with green technology to help clean up our oceans, it is with great pleasure that we are able to do so in the presence of perhaps what is Hollywood’s biggest star; the Sea Bird. While we are positive that one of the most beloved movies of all time will forever be emblazoned in our hearts, we take great pride in knowing that we’re helping to insure that this precious piece of Americana is forever preserved. And we’re sure that Henry, James, William and Jack are all smiling down on us knowing that the Sea Bird is still alive and well!
You too can help preserve the wonderful spirit of Mister Roberts by reading through our fun and informative articles and spreading the word about this amazing movie and its rich history!
